In difficult economic times many people are looking for ways to save money. There are a lot of things that you can do to help ease the strain on you pocket book and make your money last you longer. Here are just a few tips that help you on your way to being a great money saver.
-
Lower your debt- If you have credit card debt pay as much as you can towards the card with the highest interest first. If you have many different credit cards you may want to consolidate you debt to lower the interest that you have to pay. Once you have your credit cards paid off only spend the money that you have. Only use credit as a last resort in the case of an emergency.
-
Examine your expenses- Make a list of all of the expenses that you have no matter how small they are. Keep a notebook with you and write down everything that you spend for one month including things like: snacks from a vending machine, getting a drink at the gas station, etc. Look at all of these expenses and see where you can cut back (less eating out, find cheaper insurance, give up cable, etc.) Now set a budget and stick to it.
-
Shop smarter- Make a shopping list and stick to it, impulse buying will drain your funds fast. You may want to consider buying store brand foods. A lot of store brand food cost much less money than the name brand version and a lot of the time the name is the only thing that is different. You can also use coupons. Coupons are a great way to save money. A few cents off one thing may not seem like much but if you start using coupons regularly those few cents will really start adding up.
